It’s that time of year again! I was ready to set up my tripod to get some photos and I decided to try something different.
Begin photog jargon>>> Instead of my tripod I opted to hand hold my camera with 2 second exposures. I tried everything from holding the camera in front of me to propping it on a car, pointing the lens by resting it on my forearm. I thought it would make a neat effect not having perfectly streaming lines. Speaking of the lens, I put my 20mm away (what I would use to capture a huge sky) and instead used my 200mm to capture small vignettes of the fireworks. I also played with the focus, changing it up from infinity to 1.5m. <<< End photog jargon
The results, I think, are really cool. I don’t just see fireworks, instead I see everything from sea creatures to nebulae. So take away the expectation of fireworks, and look at these like you would look at big fluffy clouds, trying to find people, places or things amongst them. Let me know what you find!
