Today marks the 1 year anniversary of when I brought our wonderful furballs home from the rescue. I have had some real duds when it comes to cats, but these guys were the perfect addition to our family. They are brothers and came from an animal hoarding situation. Because of their very young age (they were only a few weeks old when the rescue got them) they were among the few cats who were spared from euthanization.
Being almost the same age as our youngest, Isaac, and only 11 weeks old when we brought them home, the kitties and our baby have grown up together.
I have a “Caturdays” photo album on my Facebook, and MANY of these are taken directly from that album, chronicling the weeks of Elvis, Bismark, and 2011. (you can also see how my photography has improved!)
Christmas was an exhausting, wonderful, and happy day. My sister is here from Seattle and stopped by and the kids were going batshit over their new [vintage] GI Joes. It was a good day.
A technical note: My learning curve with my 20mm prime continues. My AF and I almost came to fisticuffs; why I didn’t just use a single focus point and work from there is beyond me (it could just be I was buzzed from about 2:30-on) so some of these are lacking sharpness, or in focus-ness. Acclimating to low light/shallow DOF is not easy. I guess this is the point in every photographer’s journey where they go from letting their camera do all the work and making the camera do what you want it to do, and knowing when each is appropriate.
I brought home a lovely Advent wreath “Papa” made me (my priest and good friend). I don’t know if people are lazy this year or what, but the decorations, in my neighborhood at least, are lacking so what I have so far is all in my house. I’ll add to this set as ADVENT progresses, but here’s some twinkling, Christmas prettiness.
