In an effort to save my kids from my various neuroses, I try to expose them to lots of new experiences, including ones that may not be so comfortable for me; like bugs. Crawling bugs I can deal with, but flying ones freak me out. This includes butterflies… have you seen them up close? They’re NOT CUTE. Despite that, I took my son into the butterfly room at the Academy of Natural Sciences. I am proud to say one landed on me and I only spazzed a little on the inside, trying to hold my composure so my boy wouldn’t see mommy freaking out.
This trip didn’t yield too many photos thanks to the 80% humidity and the constant fogging on my lens, but what I did get I was pleased with.
And because I can… the cutest thing at the museum: my sweet little Isaac:

Very nice, and what a cutie! Good on you for swallowing your squeamishness. Your son will learn from that too!

Your photos are awesome! What a good mom you are not to freak out in the butterfly house. They say it’s good luck for a butterfly to land on you. I’ve been to the butterfly house tons of times and not one butterfly has landed on me π¦ You are one lucky gal. And your little one is so much cuter than butterflies π

Butterflies have always creeped me out, so I admire your ability to take your son to see them. Your photos are exquisite – and your son looks like a lil’ cutie!
