This is part two of my journey to explore the pine barrens. This time I went to see the ruins of an old paper mill of the once thriving community.
As I was leaving I found a bonus cactus!
Next was the preserved town of Batsto. It was a scorching day but I nonetheless enjoyed the relaxing walk through this historic town.
I found this weird bug – any idea why this thing is?!
Last but not least, a quick stop by an old cemetary

Reblogged this on Tracey in Maine.
Thank you!! Very interesting images. Isn’t it rather sad at times to think that some things are just left, abandoned, left to rot??? But sometimes, as someone is passing by, some treasure of time past is found. I guess that is the wonder of life – of mankind – we all move on but our eyes gaze into a past looking for what went by to see what is coming. It’s a wonderful life, indeed. Mankind is interesting indeed. What is to come – no-one can say but it sure is fun to find what was!!!
These ruins are about 500 feet from a popular swimming creek and most have no idea the place where they are swimming was once the center of a booming community.
